What exactly is a Green Smart Housing?

There are a number of elements that must be incorporated to warrant ‘Green Smart' accreditation. These include:

  • The types of materials used
  • Recycling of grey water
  • Utilisation of energy efficient materials and appliances
  • Stormwater management
  • Waste management plans

Galway Grove is a unique seventeen-lot house and land package subdivision. Two ‘Green Smart' display homes, complying with Green Smart accreditation, have now been built. These display homes, and in fact all homes built at Galway Grove will have 6 star energy efficiency rating.

The remaining lots will be offered as land, or house and land package deals.

All house plans have been architecturally designed to comply with the Western Australian Housing Industry Association ‘Green Smart' accreditation. To maximise energy efficiency and passive solar heating and cooling, fourteen of the seventeen houses have a north south orientation.

Expressions of interest are encouraged and additional information on this exciting development at Galway Grove can be obtained from: John Saunders 0419 972 000 or Michelle Hollemans 0407 500 100.

At the moment, all she can think about is her first day at school.

What kind of environment will she inherit?

The legacy we leave future generations will be governed by a responsible attitude to where and how we live today. Nature’s resources are not infinite.

By building ecologically sustainable housing, respecting our use of water resources and caring for our environment, our future and hers will be whole lot brighter.

Galway Grove is the South West’s first fully sustainable housing project and demonstrates a commitment to preserving the future for generations of Australians.

My name is Eilish.

I am 12 years of age and love living in the South West of Western Australia.

We are learning a lot at school about global warming, taking care of our environment, and using water wisely. We all understand that nature’s resources are not infinite and I think that building ecologically sustainable houses is a step in the right direction. My parents and I visited Galway Grove and love what has been done there, (even though I had to explain a lot of the features to Mum and Dad).

We are all responsible in taking care of our planet and today is a good day to start.
